Another interesting question is, Why doesn't ProDOS-8 1.4 work with ProDOS-16 1.1? I replaced my P8 1.3 with 1.4 (silly me) and had to run an emergency 3.5" system disk to get my hard disk bootable again!

In recent Days I have purchased 3 programs for the GS each having a newer version of Prodos16 1.1 Dec 86, 1.2 May 87, and 1.3 June 87. What's the differance. The latest Version came with the newly released TML PASCAL (as they say not to be confused with TML PASCAL APW). The stange thing is that one of the Pascal Programs on Pascal Source Code Library disk (v1.1) the dialog demo if you have it will not run from the launcher 1.3 but works f fine from 1.1. What is apple doing to us lets hope the rom upgrade will help.

Actually, things are just about to get worse. In Sept Apple is going to introduce TWO new versions of P8 and P16/System Utility disk! V2.0, which some folks are getting in their new GS and on various software packages has been available to developers since about May according to the various discussions I have been having with folks. It is the package that allowed Editors to print to non-Imagewriter II printers (are there such things :-). There are also numerous other fixes, new toolsets and bugs. Version 3.0 is coming in Sept (Apple on Compuserve says the first or second week of Sept and to not expect your dealer to hear about it till then) is going to have the REAL finder (in color), a new version of P16 (the real one?) and I THINK the new P8, along with a lot more bug fixes, features, etc. At least, that is what we are being told on MAUG (tm). -- Larry W.
