< I want a cookie! > "The present day composer refuese to die!" - Edgard Varese, 1922 Zappa has used this quote many times, mostly on his Verve-era albums. Look up Varese in any encyclopedia. Better yet, get the Columbia Masterworks album of Varese and listen to Poeme Electronique or Ionisization. You would never know it was recorded in 1959 (Poeme Electronique is on the album as Varese recorded it in 1936, I believe). The correct Zappa quote is, and I quote "The modern-day puchaco refuses to die" I didn't bring my Zappa collection to work this morning (knew I was forgetting something) so I can't say for sure which album it's on or verify the spelling, but it's out there somewhere, campers. Good tunes to you, George W. Sherouse <decvax!mcnc!unc!sherouse> "By force of habit I am an insect I have to confess I'm proud as hell of that fact"
