Many people sent me mail about the modem problem. Thank you all of you nice guys. :-) I tried everything, (and I must admit that it works better than it did before), but it still doesn't communicate. The SSC is working fine and the modem works on an IBM (!). The TR (Terminal ready) light on the modem works fine, and it turns on when I say PR#2. However, all data sent to the modem are ignored. The RD (Receive data) light simply didn't turn on. Also, the MC (Modem Check) light is on ALL THE TIME except during testings. Now the question is that, since it doesn't work on my Apple, why did it work on an IBM PC? :-( Can anyone of you figure out what's happening? Dave Chen

The modem works connected directly to the IBM, but needs a "wire swap" to work with my CCS 7710 serial card in the Apple. I suspect your SSC is wired the same way. Try making the following wire swapper using the appropriate gender of DB-25 connectors: Apple Modem 3 2 2 3 1 1 7 7 20 6 4 5 This works on my Apple. Good Luck. Dave Kurth hp-lsd!dfk
