[comp.sys.apple] Applied Engineering speedup card

nicholaa@pro-sol.cts.COM (Andy Nicholas) (09/05/87)

Well, I found the following message on some BBS's, and thought it should be
reprinted, and also, if this is true, for Apple IIgs owners, it does not bode
well if Apple would buy the spedup card from Applied Engineering in texas, and
squelch it's release... what a bunch of _________...

I'll be calling AE on Monay to offer what little I have to offer for support.
I figure, if they sell 500,000 of them for $200 profit, then they make 100
million dollars... that ought to make apple a little tired to try to pay AE
$100,000,000 for the card... then again, apple could try to buy the entire
COMPANY and put everyone else out of work. All I can say is:

APPLIED, STICK TO YOUR GUNS... YOU'RE DOING THE RIGHT THING... RELEASE IT.

The number for Applied Engineering in carollton texas is: 214-241-6069. Call
and tell them you want your speedup card.

Then again, you could call Apple Computer, Inc., and tell them what a bunch of
fools they are (my personal opinion).
------
Don't believe everything you hear..... Apple may well be buying the card right
from AE to keep it off the market and from competing with their almighty Mac.

Isn't it interesting to know that Apple has cut off their user support number
to AE. Maybe because AE went ahead with plans for the accel. card without
Apples blessing.....

Isn't it interesting to know that a REGISTERED developer developed a Prodos
type of Dos for the GS that works 6-7 times faster than the present one only
to
have Apple buy the rights for 10,000, dump him from the REGISTERED developers
list and send him a letter telling him that later he could re-apply for
CERTIFIED developer (a lower catagory) and he MIGHT get that but never to
apple
for REGISTERED again because his request would fall on deaf ears!

Apple took the profits from the II+, IIe, and IIc line and built the MAC....
now they have built the GS and are charging Mac prices but delivering
only half a machine so that the GS doesn't 'overshine their precious MAC!"

Hope someone asks some of these questions of Whatever Scapegoat Apple sends
to
the Applefest in San Francisco...

Read it, and hope that something worthwhile shows at applefest.
