[comp.sys.apple] monitor 80 col. cards

dave@leo.UUCP (09/11/87)

I am currently putting together an Apple ][+ system and have no
monitor. Any suggestions/hints/reviews on monitors (mono and color)
and 80 column cards would be much appreciated. Any of the same about
vendors and mail-order houses would be VERY helpful, too.

Thanks in advance!

The Applied Engineering Viewmaster 80 is very nice. Perfect Videx
emulation, with a built-in soft-switch for 80 column mode. The only
disadvantage I've seen is that some software (Locksmith fast copy) will
accidentally set the soft-switch. This is no big problem since the card
has connections for a 40 column override switch.

I paid $120-140 for it about 2 years ago. I got it from Silicon Express,
I've ordered from them several times, and they are cheap, fast &
reliable. I don't have an address or phone number handy, but they have
ads in A+ every month.

(PS Anyone want to buy a MockingBoard Stereo sound/music & speech board?
It hasn't got much use since I bought my Amiga a year ago.)
