[comp.sys.apple] Running programs with ECP8

bu000750@cisunx.UUCP (pearsall) (09/25/87)

I received ECP8 off of APPLE2L@BROWNVM and had no problems
intalling it. For those who had trouble unsqueezing it with BLU, I did
also. Try using the Apple Binary Transfer utility if you have a copy,
instead. I think that is was just reposted to APPLE2L just a few days
ago. ECP8 is a great system and is lives up to everything I have heard
about it. I'd like to register for a full copy of the system except I
am having one problem that I would like to solve before I send in my
$30.
I cannot seem to execute any other programs from ECP. I saved
BASIC.SYSTEM to the CMDS subdirectory as BASIC but any time I try to run
a program, whether BAS, BIN, or SYS, the system leaves me in Applesoft
with with no program and empty RAM chips. I used the "BASIC filename"
command like the documentation says and have tried various other
combinations but nothing seems to work. ECP seems to find the directory
and/or volume that the program I wish to run is on but then jumps back
to the CMDS directory and just loads in the BASIC system leaving me with
the basic promp ']_'. Am I doing something wrong? Will I get this
feature when I register for a full copy? And does anyone else have this
problem?
					Thanks in advance
