[comp.sys.apple] KERMIT 3.7x's 'modem' command problem

NU092254@NDSUVM1.BITNET (Brian Dall) (10/16/87)

I have a problem with the MODEM command in Kermit v.3.7x.

I think it has more to do with a small oversight than with an actual bug
in the program.
I need to dial the '*'. I am on a phone system that has call waiting,
and you need to dial the '*' to turn this feature off.

'*' and '#' are valid dialing characters, (I've owned two different
modems, and both could dial them.) but Kermit interpets the '*'
as a pause command and won't send it to the modem.

Could someone please tell me the location to poke a new value into
to change the pause command character to a non-dialing character (for
instance, '%' or '&')?

I use the SSC driver if that information is necessary.

Thank you very much for any help.
       take care,
                                     -Bri
