[comp.sys.apple] More than a Meg for GS?

arenberg@trwrb.UUCP (Jeff Arenberg) (10/14/87)

Right now I've got a GS with Apple's 1 Meg memory upgrade card. The card
works fine and I can setup and use the ramdisk. However, working with APW
is still painful because you can't set the disk size over about 384K (just
enough room for either the compiler and all those include files or the
linker, but not both). Does anyone have any good info about bigger ram
cards? I've seen ads for AE products, but has anyone used one?

Thanks,

Jeff Arenberg

AE ramcards:
Sure, I've had one onboard my ][e for about a year (1meg)
and the systems disk that comes with it has been a fine Applewks
extension. Pinpoint, Macroworks and other utility overlays all
function with no flaws. No comments on the GS applications but
I would DEMAND the same for the GS.

Disclaimer: Yup!

Just to add on: One of my 1 meg AE RamWorks has had a 2 Meg piggyback on it
(also AE, of course) for about 5 months now. Works just fine, very big desk
top. Apple Pascal likes it too. The ][gs shouldn't do any less, but the
comments on this BB suggest that the ][gs is not quite a mature machine yet
(or at least it wasn't last week).

****DISCLAMER: My comments, etc., are my own shakey opinions ********
