Last night I was downloading some text files using Kermit 3.79 for transfer to my brother's new Mac II. We looked at the text after running it through Apple File Exchange and every character had an underscore in front. I quickly realized that the high bit must have been set on the Prodos source. I went back to Kermit but could not find any setting for the high bit. Is there some way to have Kermit default to text with the high bit clear? A patch to the code, like an appropriately placed AND would be fine. I got the high bit to clear by loading the text in Applewriter and then saving it.
