I heard a review of IJ&TOD this morning on NPR's "Morning Edition" news show which essentially agrees with you (that this movie may well be too violent for young kids to see). According to the reviewer, in addition to the scenes that you described, there is a scene where a man has his heart plucked out just prior to being incinerated. That is almost too gross for *me*, never mind a 10-year old! Is that Indiana Jones or Tennessee Jed? #R:uok:5100014:uok:5100015:000:656 uok!crigney May 24 19:47:00 1984 I saw Temple of Doom Wednesday, and greatly enjoyed it. The violence is no worse than in Raiders of the Lost Ark; certainly less than in the climax of Raiders. If creepy crawlies bother you, there's a scene that will blow your mind; otherwise the most horrifying scene is the dinner. If you loved Raiders, you should love Temple; it's just as good. I went to it with unrealistically high expectations, which were met. Kate Capshaw's character isn't nearly as good as Karen Allen's, but still has her points. Definitely a must-see for Adventure fans. "Snakes. Why did it have to be Snakes?" Carl ..!ctvax!uokvax!uok!crigney ..!duke!uok!crigney

#N:uok:5100014:000:923 uok!dwhitney May 18 23:37:00 1984 In the May 18 issue of USA Today, it was mentioned that Speilberg and Lucas have voluntarily added "disclaimers" about intensely violent scenes which appear in "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom." Speilberg was quoted as saying if he had children around the age of 10, he would not allow them to see parts of this film, particularly about 20 minutes in the middle. Some scenes mentioned as particularly gruesome involve child slavery, lava pits and other fun things. It would seem that if more than a few parents catch wind of this, there are going to be a great number of youngsters that wont see IJ&TOD, which may take a small chunk out of Paramount's expected profits.. A member of the ratings board thought PG was too light, yet an R was too severe as a rating........I would hate to see such a potentially great movie spoiled by gratuitous violence...Any comments?
