[comp.sys.apple] internal 2400 baud modem for Apple II

Rankins@DOCKMASTER.ARPA.UUCP (11/11/87)

I am resending this since it's been over 48 hours since I sent it
originally and it still hasn't shown up in the info-apple list.
(I sent a second message about delays in posting of messages on
Tuesday, November 10 at approx. 8:30 a.m., and that came back from
info-apple around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, but still no original message.)
I wish somone could explain to me what's going on around here. Well,
anyways, here's the original message again. Hopefully this one makes
it through in a reasonable amount of time:

Can anyone give me any information on the Epic 2400 baud internal modem
for the Apple II series computers. It is advertised in the December
issue of A+ magazine. It is made by Epic Technology. Has anyone heard
of this company before, and if so, do they make a good product? Does
anyone know of its compatability/reliability/specifications? It is
supposed to emulate a Super Serial Card/Hayes Smartmodem combination.
The main comms programs I am using now (on my IIGS) are Kermit and Talk
is Cheap. Has anyone tried this modem with either of these programs?
The main reason I am interested in this program is the price -- $175
from the maufacturer, $160 mail order from Golem Computers. If anyone
has tried this modem or has any information on it, I would appreciate
any and all comments/criticisms/praise etc. You can post to this list
or email to Rankins@Dockmaster.arpa.

                                                  Thanks in advance,
                                                  Ray
