Kermit 3.80 seems to work great as far as not forcing me to reboot and (non-destructively) rebuild my /Ramdisk anymore. Marvelous! I also appreciate being able to dial the * now to turn off call waiting, but I do have a problem with dialing using the modem command still. Perhaps you can figure it out long distance and suggest a cure. It dials just fine, and I get a CONNECT 1200 and everything, but then when I hit return to get the other computer to acknowledge me, I get garbage from it. I get control characters that screw up my screen, and scrambled text, etc. If I dial from Connect mode (type "ATDT*69...") everything works just fine, and I don't get any garbage at all. I type return and the remote computer says "enter class: ". Also, if I do dial using the MODEM command, I can get it to recover, but I have to do the following: Escape to kermit command mode and SET DISP 80 3 CONect again issue an escape command to my modem ("+++") tell the modem to connect again ("ATO") All this is a pain, so I usually just dial from CONnect mode. The only thing I can think of is that KERMIT is sending a character to the remote computer when it gets it's connection, and that is screwing things up. I really don't know though, I'm just guessing. I'm using the SSC driver that came with KERMIT v3.78 by the way, if that makes any difference and connecting to a hayes compatible (obviously) modem. As long as this has gotten long already, one more request. KERMIT supports getting several files automatically at my node using wildcards, and your Apple KERMIT supports that just fine, but during the entire download, the name of the first file downloaded is displayed. This leaves you with no idea how far along in the download you actually are. It shouldn't be too hard to change the filename displayed on screen when it changes to downloading another file, and it would be a very nice feature to have. Thanks for a great program. take care, -Bri ________________________________________________________________________ Brian Dall | |"It is dangerous to tell PO Box 5112 | NU092254@NDSUVM1.BITNET | the people that laws are NDSU Station | | not just. . . ."
