Will someone who was fortunate enough to receive Debroah Dowdy's message with a legal address let her (and others prone to using "please reply by email") know that failure to include more address info effectively limits the capacity of a substantial fraction of the audience from helping out. The 80 or so of us reading comp.sys.apple on bitnet haven't a clue where "uunet" is (if it gates from UUCP, then a WHOLE LOT more address info is needed). Since she hasn't a modem, her best bet for getting software of the type she's looking for is a local Apple computer club (her cryptic address leaves no clue about her actual geographic location, so I can't be of much help assisting her in finding a nearby club). I also recommend spending a few mail order dollars on the Children's Television Workshop "Mix and Match" software disk which has a program called "Raise the Flags" that is a much better version of the hangman game (which I have around here somewhere on a public domain disk) along with some other nice stuff that will please her children. --------------------- ARPA: sewall%uconnvm.bitnet@wiscvm.wisc.edu Murphy A. Just a note: uunet is THE primary backbone - or at least, is the backbone being supported by usenix as a project similar to the support by usenix of stargate a few years ago. Uunet IS a backbone - and the typical uucp address is to list your path relative to a backbone. If a person is directly connected to uunet (which is going to be the typical case) then there isnt any other address that CAN be given. Note that the portal is going to become another similar backbone, with its current pricing structure ($35 a month for unlimited access! at 2400 - there are lots of caveats which I dont want to get into - check the new products news group if you have access to it to see the announcemnt; otherwise, pick up any micro based magazine or newspaper printing in the last 4 months :-). I know that this is hard for non-uucp sites to deal with; I would suggest that you attempt to use "your local site!...!your Bitnet->uucp gateway!uunet!persons address" as the path. -- Larry W.
