I have been following the recent "C compilers for the ][+, //e and //c" discussion with great interest, hoping that some kind soul would say something about C compilers which are available for the IIgs. This seems to be one of those software categories that hasn't really been addressed by developers yet. There are now many different varieties of programs available for the IIgs (yeah!), but implementations of popular programming languages are rather scarce. We have two third-party Pascal compilers, but the only C compiler is APW C. Last I heard, it wasn't very usable. Frankly, the lack of a solid C compiler is worrying me. There are lots of nice programs and utilities written in C that I would like to see on the IIgs, but we won't be seeing them until we get a good C compiler. For instance, I would LOVE to see NetHack on the gs, but I'm not optimistic. So, an open question to the net: Does ANYONE know ANYTHING about the availability of C compilers specifically written for the IIgs other than APW C? Any available right now? Any available in the near future? Heck, I'll be happy with a weak rumor or two. If you can contribute ANY infomation, please respond either to the net or to me directly. Many thanks. Megamax has a C cross compiler. Edit, Compile and Link on the Mac and download to the GS. The C compiler is based on the APW C compiler. You can reach Megamax at (214)-987-4931. I believe that it provides a much better alternative to the APW shell. ( I am totally biased |-)) Michel@megamax -- Disclaimer I don't even know her!
