The "real" WordPerfect for the IIGS has just been released. Don't know when its supposed to hit dealers, but the beta testers have just received the released version. I'd comment on it, but I can't yet get it to run: it turns out that between the last beta version I saw and the release version they made use of a tool from the toolkit that is ONLY in the upgraded GS ROM's. I'd been in no hurry to upgrade, since I wasn't having any problems with what I had and knew we did have some programs that WOULDN'T run with the upgrade, but since it is more important for me to wordprocess than for the kids to play Bard's tale I'll be off to the dealer Friday... (By the way -- provided the few residual bugs in the last beta version were fixed it looks like a very powerful program -- about the only feature in the IBM version that is missing is multiple columns and the column math stuff, as I remember. Runs with either mouse or keyboard, has multiple documents (windows); but you can read the ads. The keyboard interface is quite novel -- the inexperienced user has menus up the wazoo (selected by either keyboard or mouse) but the experienced user can define single key equivalents (OA or CA) for the most used functions as well as the arbitrary single key or named macros; it comes with a pre-assigned (but redefinable) set of equivalents. Full report after I get it running and put through its paces on some real work.) TMPLee@DOCKMASTER.ARPA
