One thing that struck me as an inconsistancy, was when
the self destruct sequence was going, and then the Enterprise
blew up, was why didn't the anti-matter explosion take out the
planet and the whole sector? After all, the anti-matter is held
in a magnetic bottle, and when the enterprise blows up, that bottle
would collapse, resulting with a matter-anti-matter mix
that should have been much much more destructive. Am I missing
something or what?

Easy. The self-destruct is a *controlled* self destruct. Therefore
many things are possible. One possibility would be to jettison the anti-
matter in a magnetic container.
