APPLE2-L is a list maintained on the LISTSERVer (a robot that maintains lists, natch) at BROWNVM.bitnet. From Bitnet, you can send immediate commands (TELL from CMS, TRANSMIT from TSO, SEND from a VAX), or you can use mail. Commands MUST be sent to LISTSERV@BROWNVM.BITNET The ONLY message in the body of the mail should be one (or more) commands (users not on bitnet should try only 1 command until they are sure LISTSERV can really construct a working return address). Handy commands: SUBSCRIBE APPLE2-L Your_1st_name Your_last_name INDEX APPLE2-L (gets a list of previously contributed files) GET APPLE2-L 87-nnnnn (where 'nnnnn' is a file number - see INDEX) UNSUBSCRIBE APPLE2-L (posting "please remove me messages to the list WON'T WORK <the robot doesn't read the mail>) To contribute a file (ONLY!! to contribute a file), send the file as mail to: APPLE2-L@BROWNVM.BITNET ** REREAD this message to this point! so you won't be one of those who learns only enough to send a message to the WRONG address ** Sadly, subscribers on UUCP (and arpa too I think) can contribute files and receive them as they are contributed but do not seem to be able to GET previously contributed files. In the interest of preserving the peace on info-apple (aka comp.sys.apple) I recommend posting files longer than 20Kbytes (ESPECIALLY "Tipsheets" of the "how to solve..." variety) on APPLE2-L rather than info-apple. Such things are akin to "programs" in a broad sense. --------------------- (NOTE! until 12/1/87 use @wiscvm.wisc.edu) <Bets now being accepted on how long it's going to take to work right> ARPA: sewall%uconnvm.bitnet@cunyvm.cuny.edu Murphy A.
