[net.movies] Goof up in Indiana Jones & the Temple ....?

phaedrus@eneevax.UUCP (06/03/84)

A friend of mine claims that there is a goof up in IJ&TOD, in the
hanging bridge chopping scene. He claims that before the bridge is
chopped by IJ, The Bad Guy (BG), and Short Round and Willie are in
the following order -

BG -------beginning of bridge ...........SR and Willie.........IJ.....

and after IJ chops the bridge they are in the following order -

top of bridge
.
.
.
.
SR and Willie
.
.
BG
.
.
IJ
.
.
End of chopped bridge.

What I mean is how did SR and Willie switch places on the bridge, and
how did Mola Ram (The Bad Guy) get on the bridge when he wasn't on when
IJ chopped it?

Is this true? Did anybody else notice this?

It's true that the Bad Guy ended up in between Willie and IJ after the bridge
fell and he was at the end before the bridge was chopped, but...

He may have fallen passed Short Round and Willie and then caught the bridge
while falling. As a matter of fact, I almost think I remember seeing
him fall and then afterwards seeing him holding on.

Someone not paying attention. We saw the bad guy/high priest push past the
kid and the goil, after putting them on there to convince IJ not to break the
bridge, so as to be in on the kill (I suppose). On the other hand, I consider
nit-picking of this order to be a sign that someone didn't enjoy the movie.
It's all "the willing suspension of disbelief", after all. Why not complain
about the rigidity of the inflatable life raft and the difficulty of balancing
it well enough, or the tedious "I hit you, now you hit me" scene on the conveyor
belt (real fights don't work like that), or the irrelevance of the girl in the
first place, or the amount of fuel needed by a rather short-range 'plane, or...
I happen to be a firm believer in "good=enjoyable", "bad=nitpick".
