Last night, I saw ORCA, or most of it because I couldn't stand it. The effects were so PHONY, I couldn't believe it! Now, I knew ORCA was bad, but thinking back, there is a movie I saw about 6 months ago that was worse. It was called "The Slime People," or something dumb like that. It was obviously and EXTREMELY low budget film, and must have been done by some college students or something. The thing about it, is that it is a great spoof, even though it wasn't meant to be. Does anyone know where to get a copy of it or even where to look for it? Did anyone else even see the movie and survive... I am curious to hear anyone's reactions to either ORCA or THE SLIME PEOPLE.

Since someone mentioned Orca, I may as well chime in. I thought that this movie (and I use the term losely) was not only poorly done from a film standpoint, but also from a scientific standpoint. First, as a film, it was terrible! The special effects were, as stated in the original article, poorly done. There were numerous spots where the whale was supposed to be leaping from the water in front of some catastrophe it had caused, and it was obvious (because of lighting, water color, perspective, and many other reason) that the whale had been filmed in an aquarium somewhere. Also, I noticed many breaks in continuity, either due to a poorly edited copy, or just to neglect. As for the plot, while I might admit that killer whales are smart, I really doubt that a whale could decide to sink only certain ships in a harbor just so it could exact its revenge. Or! Could a whale really know (or reason) enough to break gas lines, and then come back to knock over a kerosene lamp to start a fire? Again, I doubt it! (Maybe someone with better knowledge on killer whales could shed some light on the subject?) Well... I guess I have made my point. I hated the movie! I guess I was spoiled by Namu!
