[comp.sys.apple] APPLE2-L Requests

forde@EGLIN-VAX.ARPA ("MAJ ERIC S. FORD") (12/21/87)

Does getting these mis-sent APPLE2-L requests clutter your mailboxes as much
as mine? I'm not normally a vindictive person, and I realize that everyone
has to learn sometime, but there is a limit to even my patience. It would
seem logical that these individuals requesting INFO or files from APPLE2-L
must have read about the LISTSERVer here on the net and (since virtually every
discussion has mentioned the need to address requests to LISTSERV vice APPLE2)
so should be aware of the nuissance their mail creates. Posting instructions
here seems to be so much wasted time...so, I make the following (admittedly
petty) suggestion: those subscribers who feel as I do should forward a copy
of the mis-sent mail back to the originator along with a short instructional
note as to how to properly address these requests. Receiving a hundred or so
replies of this nature might drive home the point.

Eric

(I know it's petty but I have a cold and my head hurts making me not a very
nice person today)

Yes.

Seems like a good way to drive it home when this is the case. However this
morning 17 out of the 21 messages in my mailbox were from 'postmaster@psuvax1'
re. undeliverable mail. Perhaps the header that the robot generates could
have it's 'Reply-To:' header changed, to 'listserv' if nothing else is
appropriate? THEN we could deal with the people who insist on not reading
instructions.

Sorry to hear that.
