[comp.sys.apple] WordPerfect 2.0

scott@geowhiz.UUCP (Scott Kempf) (12/27/87)

Finally I receive my copy of the new WordPerfect for the //gs.

WordPerfect send me an entirely new manual and three disks (3.5").
They still do not reallize that some of use //gsers have upgraded ][es.
I was hoping I would get a new template that would fit on my keyboard.
The new version requires 512k, since I have no added memory, it will not run.
Now I will have to shell out the cash. I had been waiting as long as possible.

The biggest surprise I found was on the a file called:

/utilities/sys.utils/fastcopy.sys

This is a program written by Apple Computer to copy whole disks. Other than
those silly Apple Works note cards on the screen, it is great! It ejects the
disks itself and sences when a disk is inserted. You don't need to use the
keyboard or the screen once you start copying. It also grabs all avail memory.
I booted just ProDOS 8 form cold start and I was able to copy a full disk
with 9 reads and 9 writes. And that is on a 256k //gs. My guess is that this
program is on the new System Disk too.

					Happy New Year Everyone,
