I own an apple //c, and several months ago I bought the PINPOINT software package to use with the appleworks software I have. I use it extensively and it seems to work ok. Recently, I purchased a modem so I could use the Dialer function of PINPOINT. I set the modem to the correct manufacturer's specifications and hooked up the modem to the //c using an apple factory cable, and tried to dial a number. The first time I dialed a number, it worked fine. The second time I try and dial a number using the Dialer function, the Dialer function blows you clear into monitor mode, listing contents of machine registers. I called PINPOINT technical support in California, and they were not much help. They said I have a flakey modem, but yet I also have a IBM PC clone which I use the modem with all the time and it works fine. The technical support people said the only funny setting they have for the modem is that CD (carrier detect) should be forced high. I tried this and it seems to make no difference. By the way, the modem I have is supposedly 100% Hayes compatible. I have tried as many different combinations of modem settings as logically wouldallow. Can anyone out there offer any advice.....?
