I don't see having to turn the drive on as being a problem when booting. After all, hasn't it always been standard practice to turn peripherals on first, anyway?? Yep... mark

My IIGS is set up to boot via slot scan, with hard disk in slot 7. If I just want to run some 3.5" copy-protected software or 5.25" floppy, it is most convenient to leave the hard disk powered off.
