I have a Unidisk 3.5 drive for my //C which works nicely. A friend of mine was going to get one for her //C which she intends to keep for another six months or so and then get a IIGS. A dealer told her that while the Unidisk works fine on the //C it has serious compatability problems on the IIGS. Has anyone else out there heard this? It seems a little hard to believe to me but I have very little experience on a IIGS. The dealer did mention, of course, that her best option was to just go ahead and buy a IIGS then and there. ERRATA I have been informed that SOFTERM II is not copyprotected. My mistake. I was basing my information on what a salesperson had told me when I asked about transfering it to my 3.5 or /RAM drive. Nope, the dealer is just trying to sell you a GS! (We wouldn't might it, though...):-) UniDisk 3.5's work just fine with a GS, especially since the "Unified" drive (I forget what the product name actual is) wasn't delivered in prototype form to me when I original got my GS. The only thing the new drive really gives you is the ability to also use it on a Macintosh. Also, I believe the list price is lower. You can transfer Softerm II to a 3.5 disk, but I have not been able to get v2.53 to execute from the 3.5 disk. Always hangs up. I have not tried a RAM disk (all this is on a non-enhanced ][e). ****DISCLAMER: My comments, etc., are my own shakey opinions ******** | Bruce P.
