As soon as you start digitizing sound or video, two great things to do on an Apple IIGS, you'll find that you need more disk space. The 32Mb volume limit gets in the way of simply attaching a large disk, for example the 171Mb Toshiba that sits on my desk at work, to the SCSI port. Why, it's even a nuisance with Apple's own HD40SC, which has 8Mb that's inaccessible under ProDOS. Now I realize some hobbyists have no use for such large disks and think they can't afford them. But those who do need them are stymied by the lack of foresight imposed by the ProDOS disk format volume header design. I did hear that Apple would be "looking into" how to lift this restriction. I sure hope they solve this problem soon. P.S. Generally I think ProDOS is acceptable, certainly infinitely better than DOS 3.3.
