[comp.sys.apple] Mail Order Sources

gallo@fstvax.dec.com (Ralph's Pretty Good Grocery.) (01/16/88)

I am planning, within the next two weeks to purchase
a Central Point Software 3.5" disk drive for my Laser.I want to
purchase this item via mail order.

My question is,can someone recommend a reliable
mail order source for hardware?.The price of the drive has seemed
to settled at about $185,just about anywhere I've looked,so price
is not a much as a factor as replacement policy, etc.

In a related topic, what brand of media do you
recommend? I am interested in both 5.25" and 3.5" media.

I want to do this right the first time,so any
advice would be appreciated.

For 5.25 inch disks, at least, you might want to try MEI/MICRO CENTER,
1100 Steelwood Road, Columbus OH 43212-9972 (tel:800-634-3478). Their
5.25 inch disks sell for $0.25 each in lots of 200, sleeves and right-
protect tabs [but not lables] included. For losts of 100, they are $0.27
each. I have used them on Apple ][e and ][c, and on IBM AT and XT, with no
problems. These prices are good until 1/20/88.

They also have 3.5 inch disks at $0.99 each in lots of 50, but I haven't yet
tried them.

A recent review article in _Software News_ (I think) indicates that there was
no correlation between price and quality for 5.25 inch disks.
