Speaking of using the Apple // as a dumb terminal with no file transfer capability, the Apple //C ( and I assume the //E) can be used as a dumb terminal with no software at all. It's quite easy. The only thing that I haven't been able to get mine to do is to set to 8-N-1 no parity. The //C defaults to 7-N-1 when using PRODOS and will not respond to the keyboard commands to go to 8-N-1. This is seldom a problem though. VT100 is much nicer of course, but as Murphy was pointing out it's silly for anyone to purchase a "dumb" terminal program. As to VISA and MASTERCARD's consumer protection people, this too was right on the nail. I ordered LOCKSMITH 6.0 from BUSINESS COMPUTERS OF PETERBOROUGH and was billed immediately. I was told twice that the software had been shipped . When I called the LOCKSMITH people they told me the product had not been rele ased yet. BCP refused to talk to me or return my calls. After six months I call ed Visa and they gave my money back. Did you notice that the ZIPCHIP man is wearing gloves now? Cover up those fingerprints.
