I have just finished a new protocol program. Yes, I know, just what we need. I think though, that this may be worthwhile. This program takes any non-sparse PRODOS file of any type or size and converts it into a form in which the high byte is not significant. All file attributes are encoded iin the new file as well as a comment line. It's usually a good idea to prepare a group of files before transmitting with PROPACK, BLU or something. The problem is knowing what to use to "decode" the files. When creating a "cocoon" file you are asked for a comment of up to 65 characters. This comment is displayed when "unwrappin g" the file. The sendable file is about one seventh larger than the original. This should be a considerable improvement over EXEC files. On the other hand it may not even work. I need to send out some of the "cocooned" files and have them sent back to me. If this works I will then put the file in APPLE2-L or wherever else it should be distributed. It will be public domain. If it doesn't work why clog up the network with it? I have successfully sent files from my //C to the mainframe and back with it but now for the real test. Anyone who would be willing to let me send them a te st file and who would then send it right back should let me know. If you want it sent to a non-BITNET address that would be great but you may need to give me pretty explicit instructions on how to send to you. Thanks, Bob Church CS656@OUACCVMB
