I did some benchmarking when I first got my Titan Accellerator //e card. Disk reading from a 10 meg sider was roughly twice as fast when using the speed-up card. You basically speed up your ability to read data I guess because of avoiding having to wait for the drive to make another revolution to get to the needed track as the //e can only read the data so fast. With the speed-up card the //e can apparently read the data to buffers as fast as the Sider could present the data thus the time savings and real speedup.
