Apple sells a botched cable, labeled as "Modem Cable" for the IIGS. It doesn't correctly wire the DCD line to the port as the extended firmware calls want. So, the correct wiring is shown in this diagram. If you use this *correct* cable, be sure to go into the Control Panel and change these to settings for the Modem Port: DCD Handshake: No DSR/DTR Handshake: No This correct cable works fine with MouseTalk, Talk is Cheap, ProTERM, Z-Link, and ModemWorks.
