[comp.sys.apple] SHIFT KEY MODIFICATION

halp@TCGOULD.TN.CORNELL.EDU ("Bruce P. Halpern") (01/30/88)

Page 15 of my Plus Works II manual gives the following instructions for the
shift key modification. First you turn off the Apple and take off the top
(of course). Then, a) From the FRONT of the computer, locate the game paddle
port that is located in the far right hand corner of the motherboard.

b). Place one end of a piece of insulated (except at the ends, naturally)
hookup wire into the fourth hole of the game paddle port (counting from
the keybaord).

c). Looking under the keyboard, locate the encoder board on the right hand
side. Connect the other end of the hookup wire to the second pin from the
right, using an alligator clip or miniclip.

d). Put things back.

I don't have a Apple ][ or ][+, and have never tried this modification. If
you wind up converting your Apple into a large flower press when you turn it
back on, don't blame me.
