In order to format an MS-DOS disk with the Apple Drive 3.5 and the PCT you need to have MS-DOS v3.2 (or higher), and a compatible format program. With the Drive 3.5 connected to the PCT it will format as a 720k MS-DOS disk. With it connected to the Smartport, it will still be formatted as 720k but will NOT be directly compatible with an IBM. It will only work on another Apple II with a PCT and 3.5" drive NOT connected to the PCT but connected with its own controller card. ps. You need to make sure that you have the PCT control panel set up for the 3.5" drive as an Apple Drive 3.5 (if it is conected to the PCT) and set up as a ProDOS drive when the 3.5" drive is connected via its own controller. Hope this helps. Dale Therio

I recently inquired of the network members whether anyone was able to daisy shain an Apple 3.5 drive behind a 5.25" PC Transporter configuration. With help from Applied Engineering, the problem has been resolved. It turns out that I had a bad cable assembly in the drive. AE indicated that they are aware of several bad cable assemblies in their early 5.25" drive systems for the Transporter. If you hear of similar problems, AE can help you resolve it. New subject: PC Transporter will work with Kermit out to a modem through my GS serial port. However, it is unable to keep up at speeds greater than 1200 bps. Has anyone successfully run Kermit on Transporter, with Kermit emulating a VT102 at 2400 bps without overrun occuring? Cheers, Bud
