[comp.sys.apple] what does the updated version of appleworks offer?

dsc@izimbra.CSS.GOV (manic pop thrill) (02/03/88)

i understand that claris is now supporting appleworks along with most
of apple's macintosh software products and i was curious if a new
release of appleworks was announced recently, and if so, what are the
differences between it and the last version from apple.

thanks,

dsc

The CLARIS advertisement on pages 18 and 19 of the March, 1988
_A+_ specifically refers to AppleWorks 2.0. The number also appears on the
3.5 in disk that dominates the ad. Thus, it would appear that there is no
new version (beyond the 2.0 that has been out for a while now).

However, the ad also states: " . . . there's an upgrade information kit
waiting for you at 800-544-854 . . ." I believe that this indicates that
CLARIS is offering to upgrade earlier versions of AppleWorks to 2.0. The
conditions are NOT given in the ad. It wasn't free before (why should it
be, for such a major improvement?), and I would guess it won't be now.

It's very encouraging to see this ad. AppleWorks is featured, together
with the Apple ][ [albeit the ][gs :-) ]. Apparently, CLARIS is aware
that AppleWorks is a very important program to it.

Note that a Canadian 800 number is also given: 800-668-8948.
