[comp.sys.apple] Apple //c joystick pinout needed

} Logan) (02/01/88)

Question of he day:

   1) Does anyone have a copy of the Apple //c Reference Manual,
as mentioned in the manual which comes with the //c?
I have gone to my local computer store, which has started down the
too-short path to total Mac-Dom, and they say they have never heard of
       it. Grumble.

   2) To solve short term problems: Does anyone have the pinout diagram
for the //c's joystick port handy? Specifically, I am interested in
the +5 volt supply and the 4 (?) analog (150k var. resistor) inputs.
The system ground connection might also be a good idea.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I checked in my //c reference manual, and found the following:
    Pin # Function
      1 Paddle button 1
      2 +5 volts
      3 GND
      5 Paddle 0 (150k var input)
      6 N.C.
      7 Paddle button 0
      8 Paddle 1 (150k input)

Pins 4 & 9 are listed as "not used for hand controllers"; they must be used
for the mouse, and I can't seem to find a diagram explaining what they're for.

Note that there are only 2 paddle inputs on a //c (and //e) 9 pin D connector.
There are 4 inputs (as well as 4 annunciators) on the 16 pin DIP connector
inside the ][+, //e and (I believe) IIGS.

The current ][c reference manual is published by Addison-Wesley. Book store
chains often carry such things.
