I'm trying to decide which 65816 Assembler to buy. The choices that I know of are Merlin, Orca/M and APW. Anyone use any of them? Recommendations? ARPA: stein%uconnvm.bitnet@cunyvm.cuny.edu Alan H. As I look into assemblers for my IIGS, some questions come up. Everyone who responded to a previous message I sent recommended Orca/M over the usual alternatives, APW and Merlin. Do I need to buy Orca's Desktop to go with the assembler? Does Orca's desktop support other languages that say they require APW? What are the pros and cons of getting the desktop? What are the memory and storage requirements. APW says it needs 1 1/4 Megs plus two 3 1/2" drives or a hard disk, while Orca/M supposedly just needs 512K. Why the difference if they are supposed to be virtually equivalent? Does APW really need all the memory and storage I've read? (I have 1 1/4 Megs but just one drive -- along with two 5 1/4" drives. A friend who is also interested has a hard disk, but just 512K.) ARPA: stein%uconnvm.bitnet@cunyvm.cuny.edu Alan H.
