RE: Dbase II files to Appleworks
Richard;
      I have had some real experiance with Dbase III+ from and to Appleworks.
First off, Dbase III+ (and as I remember your version) requires a comma
at the end of each field and a carr. ret. at the end of each record.
Apple works requires a carr. ret at the end of each field and a carr. ret.
at the end of each record. (both dbase and Appleworks record ends are blank
line carr. rets.) The method I used was to cut the Appleworks dbase file
to an ASCII file, Telcom or serial interface the data to the IBM, pull
the data into a Word procesor, and macro the changes into the file. ie:
replace the "," with a cr. and skip over the blank line cr. The macro is
relatively simple as all records will have the same # of fields, and the macro needs to be built for only one record.
Now the "High Tech" feature. I Put a Zippo lighter on the macro key and let
the machine complete the file.
heh heh....
The reverse works for the oposite transfer.
Set up an Appleworks dbase and pull in the ASCII file. All that is then required
is to rename the fields.

Luck and go buy a Zippo,
