that was a great thing... A+ magazine did some surprisingly interesting (from
a
tech point of view) articles on how it was done.
Impressive stuff like that demo is what I would like to see more of in the GS.
but enough of this... that demo is now very hard to find. Could someone who
has
it please post it on Apple2-L? Once there, anybody could grab it.

p.s. there was an article on this board last year on how to run the demo from
a hard disk...

The demo is great but please don't post it as it runs to about 1.4megs. The 2 disk take a lot of space which I might be convinced to copy for anyone really interested.

I would like to reply to Doug Gwyn's comment on the conversation we've been having on the board. He says (about the Apple IIgs Dealer Demo), that he has a legitimately obtained copy and that it is marked with a copyright notice. I agree that posting the demo on a BBS would be inappropriate mainly because of the size of the program, but I don't see how any copyright violations are being made by sharing copies among other users because of Apple's attitude concerning the demo program. Apple owns the copyright to the program and they have been very cooperative in letting users copy it. I wrote a letter to Apple to find out their position on the matter, and I received the following reply: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Mr. Hamaoka, We received your letter, inquiring about a demonstration program for the Apple IIgs. This was a demo disk distributed to our network of authorized Apple dealers for their in-store use and we do not have copies for public distribution. However, we might suggest that you contact your Apple dealer and inquire if he would be willing to make a copy for you. We appreciate your interest in Apple and your continuing support of our products. Sincerely, Marion McDonald Customer Relations Specialist ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I hope this cleared things up a bit. I an not at all trying to encourage piracy, just legal sharing of a benchmark in programming history. ----M. Hamaoka (mhamaoka@ATHENA.MIT.EDU)

This sounds like the best approach. You used to be able to get the sources for this through APDA, but I don't recall seeing it in their last catalog. Of course, I wasn't looking for it..
