Okay. Replies to the past few suggestions... First, thanks for all the input so quickly. Second, I still can't seem to get the Mandelbrot picture to save correctly. The Nibble magazine picture saver only saves 33 blocks (that's 16K, which doesn't cover my picture nearly enough. I've also got a PD picture saver which suffers the same problems. I am using a GS with 1.25 Meg, new ROMs. I'm wondering if the new ROMs have something to do with it, since my picture displayer suffered similar problems before someone posted that POKE to fix the problem. When I load the picture from my file, the Video Register is set for non-linear, yet the picture displays in linear mode. The closest I've been able to get to loading the picture has been with SHRConvert, which seems to load the picture into four small pictures (two on the top half of the screen, two on the bottom half.) Could my linearity be messed up? BTW, The algorithm is the one used in _The Beauty of Fractals_, with K set to 225 (225 colors) and color=k-INT(k/15)*15+1 (so I get 15 reps of 15 colors, of which only two reps show on the standard picture with -2.25<R<.75 and -1.5<i<1.5) I tried programming it in Pascal, but the Beta TMLPascal that I was using compiled, linked, and crashed. My next step is Assembly, but I dread using SANE through Assembly, since it will probably put SANE through just about every type of calculation short of transcendental functions.
