[comp.sys.apple] GS-Ram Cards

dale@pro-colony.UUCP (System Operator) (02/26/88)

I'm sending this to the net as well as to Mr. Aehl just in case it doesn't get
to him.

In reference to the AE GS-Ram cards. Yes there has been a recent change
(about 4 months ago). The GS-Ram card now is fully DMA compatible no matter
how much memory you have on the card. It is the only card using 256k RAM
chips that goes higher that 1 meg and is DMA compatible. The DMA
compatiblility starts with Rev. C of the board. Upgrades from the Rev. A
board are available for $48.00 (same size swap).

Unless you have an AST Video Digitizer there is no reason to upgrade the
board. To my knowledge the AST board is the _ONLY_ card on the market that
uses DMA.

Hope this answers your question.
