Yes you can rig a generic Seagate 225N to your GS and use it fine. Luckily Apple hasnt rigged a custom ROM in the drive as they did with the Quantum 80's used on the Mac. (Try formatting a generic Q280 with Apple's software) Now on the issue of using other hard disks or controller combos with Apple's SCSI card on the IIgs, I've heard that there exists a program called Hyperformat that formats any kind of controller/drive combo (such as Adaptec 4070s or Omti's) and also allows for partitioning. Anybody heard of this? Boy those BBS lists are pushing it.. Most of them sound like pirate boards! Makes an investigators life easy when he wants to find a board eh? nfong@cory.Berkeley.EDU
