Anyone out there using the TML Basic or Pascal programming tool on their IIgs? I'd like to hear a little bit about the product before I make the purchase. Also I'm interested in the TML Speech Toolkit. Thanks in Advance. =Ferris=

I have been using the integrated version of TML Pascal since it was first shipped. For reasonably short and simple non-desktop (and desktop) programs, I have had no problems. However, as your program grows (particularly if you are using UNITs and/or toolbox routines), you will likely run into many annoying bugs. Several of the bugs that I reported to TML last August are still not fixed (contrary to TML's claims). A new updated version of both the integrated and APW versions of TML Pascal is due out in early April. I have ordered this upgrade ($10) and would recommend that you wait for them before purchasing TML Pascal. If my bugs are still not fixed in the new version, I am seriously considering purchasing the Desktop version of ORCA Pascal. ------------------------------------------------------------------- J. WARNING! Though I have not seen this myself, developers on CIS mention that the TML speech toolkit has a very very stringent licensing requirement. Basically, the folks that TML got the code from refuse to let the speech toolsets themselves be redistributed. At all. Thus, if you write a program using the TML library, you can distribute your source code, or you can distribute the program, but the user cannot RUN the program without buying one of the First Byte (??) programs like reader rabbit, etc. AND! The even bigger kicker is that thaere was some discussion that the speech toolsets on some of the Byte talking disks was not compatible with the TML library.
