[comp.sys.apple] Apple IIgs hardware announcement

lwv@n8emr.UUCP (Larry W. Virden) (03/18/88)

According to a sysop on Compuserve's Apple II forum - Maug(tm) AppleTwo -
Apple announced yesterday that the IIgs will now be bundled with the Apple
II GS memory card as standard procedure. The memory card will only be
stocked with 256k - the user may purchase additional memory if more is
desired.

Since few programs will run in less than 768k - and some are now requiring
MORE than 1 meg (new Paintworks Gold needs 1.25 meg), this is at least a
start.

Also note that several weeklys that I read indicate that memory prices should
begin to fall in 2-3 months. Currently here in Columbus I believe that 256k
Cas before Ras dynamic memory runs about $95.
