[net.movies] GREMLINS background jokes

George Otto noticed some background jokes in GREMLINS.
I'd like to point some of them out so you can watch for
'em next time around:

	-  Did you notice that Gizmo and Billy were
	   watching "It's a Wonderful Life," the
	   prototypical Christmas movie?

	-  At the inventor's convention, our friend
	   Robbie the Robot was spouting lines from
	   "Forbidden Planet."  Remember the scene
	   where Earl Holliman wants Robbie to make
	   him some "refreshment?"

	-  Anybody notice the "smiley face" on the
	   refrigerator door?  That's a trademark
	   from another Dante film, "The Howling."
	   Whenever you saw the smiley face, a
	   werewolf wasn't far behind.

I know there were some others--go see it and try to find
'em!

When the gremlin cuts the phone wire he says "Phone Home"

By the way Billy and Gizmo were watching Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
Billy's mother was watching It's a wonderful life.

Also at the the inventor's convention (and then
not at the inventor's convention) was the time machine
from The Time Machine - the mid '60ish version
of Wells' story.
