[comp.sys.apple] Pascal, multi postings, 40 tracks

GA.NES@ISUMVS.BITNET (SCHUESSLER) (04/01/88)

In an article recently posted (one about HackerDOS), someone said
something about getting 40 tracks per disk. How do you do this???
This is something I've been trying to figure out for a while. Does
Prodos use 40? Probably not.

While I'm at it, I might as well put in my two cents worth on a few things...
Why is it that there are roughly 2.0*10E6 messages that are exactly alike
in my mailbox every so often? It is really annoying to try to find which
articles are exactly alike when you have 80 messages to read... It takes
hours.... I heard that they get re-posted by people ??

The recent (tiny) Pascal discussion has inspired me to ask a
few questions myself. Is there a pascal compiler for the Apple IIe
that meets the following criteria?

   1. Doesn't reboot when you hit RESET, write a bad section of code, etc.
   2. Uses ProDos, and leaves object code in binary files
   3. Assembly language capabilities
   4. Good documentation // (Especially on I/O to a modem perhaps)
   5. Uses double hi-resolution graphics
   6. Recognizes the extended memory as either a /RAM drive or
uses as extra variable space/program space.

APPLE pascal is a might frustrating. Pascal is my favorite language,
and you can't do any serious I/O programming with what I have.

---> Does anyone know how to boot a pascal program (i.e. Wizardry)
straight up w/o running through the command line?

          Thanks for helping/listening ...
