I have both WordPerfect 2.0 for the GS andAppleworks (under SuperMacroworks.) Appleworks' only advantages are speed and the integration with the database and spreadsheet modules. If you are doing any *serious* writing there is no comparison. (Even my 17-year-old prefers WordPerfect.) It is true that the Apple version is still missing a lot of the features of the MS/DOS version (e.g., multiple columns, math features, red-lining, auto-paragraph numbers -- seems what sticks in my mind from when I used to use it), but it has everything else (footnotes, endnotes, multiple headers/footers, boldface/underlining, etc. etc.) I have a number of minor complaints and suggestions, but I haven't seen anything else that comes up to it. Have played with MultiScribe (unfortunatley not the GS version, so the resolution leaves something to be desired) and except for the ability to do all sorts of fonts I consider it only a toy. Oh yes, WordPerfect has the big advantage (especially with version 2.0) in any kind of multi-vendor environment that its files CAN, with a little care, but not much, be readily transferred between different kinds of systems: I regularly ship Apple WordPerfect files off to MS/DOS systems over the net (and vice versa) with no problem.
