The new Apple II Workstation Card apparently implements the full AppleTalk protocol on an Apple II (Gary Little, _A+_, May, 1988, pp. 26-33). However, the implication of the article is that the AppleShare Fileserver software is also needed to make it work. One of my departments is wired for AppleTalk (AppleTalk/Phonenet wiring) and is actively using it on Macs and some IBMs (the latter with appropriate hardware). There is presently no fileserver on the network. Some people are running TOPS (on both Mac and IBM), some are using INBOX as well. Now that the Apple II Workstation card is out, it appears that I can connect to the network. However, must a file server, and AppleShare, be present for a IIe to join in? Also, are there any plans for an Apple II version of TOPS? ****DISCLAMER: My comments, etc., are my own shakey opinions ******** | Bruce P.
