Well, after a very pleasant two-week vacation in various places, I've returned to plague you all again. I'll start with a rather interesting ad which has been flooding the airwaves of Northwestern Iowa. It appears that Steven Spielberg, in his never-ending quest for handy merchandising targets, has allowed Gremlin storybooks to be distributed through the Hardees chain of fast food resteraunts. It has lots of cute shots of a half-hidden Gizmo walking around Hardees (unfortunately, he is not shown puking over the french fries), etc. However, as he delivers a bunch of storybooks to some kids camping out in a tent (look, I didn't write the commercial), the kids singing in the background chirp, "Well, there are Gremlins who are making America safe..." Anyone seeing the film will know that Keeping America Safe is not exactly the foremost ideal of a Gremlin. Unless, perhaps, they are running NORAD these days? (or Hardees?)
