> PRODOS.SYSTEM ----- works > BASIC.SYSTEM ----- fails > APW.SYSTEM (sic) ----- fails (appleworks) Wrong. If ProDOS runs on your Apple II+, so will BASIC.SYSTEM. APLWORKS.SYSTEM (AppleWorks) won't run because it wants you to go to your Apple dealer and buy a IIe or IIGS. > ...it is the extensions to BASIC that don't work. Thus, you can operate > SOME programs on an Apple II+ in Prodos (Kyan Pascal + KIX is a good > example). What do you mean, by "extensions to BASIC"? If you're talking about ampersand packages, added commands or other external software that uses 65C02 code, or makes ROM calls that aren't supported, then it's the *extensions* that "fail", not BASIC.SYSTEM. The number of Apple II+ compatible add-ons to BASIC.SYSTEM far outnumber those written solely for the IIe, IIc, or IIGS. > ::: David Douthitt ::: Madison, Wisc ::: > uucp mail: ...!uwvax!geowhiz!uwspan!circle!rat > fidonet mail: 121/1 As for the NO BUFFERS AVAILABLE error, another topic that's been relentlessly discussed as of late, here are three steps that can erradicate it: 1. Type CLOSE, then retry your command. 2. If that doesn't work, try CALL-48888 (FREBUFR) and try again. 3. If that doesn't work, reboot. --Morgan Davis UUCP: crash!pnet01!pro-sol!mdavis ARPA: crash!pnet01!pro-sol!mdavis@nosc.mil INET: mdavis@pro-sol.cts.com
