[comp.sys.apple] Split Screen Term. Em.

scott@hpuslma.HP.COM (Jim Scott) (04/09/88)

I am looking for a datacomm/terminal emulator that offers split screen capabil-
ity on my IIGS, so I can use it for Ham radio packet operation. Anyone know
of such a product? I've seen several comments about that kind of software for
MS-DOS (horrors!!) but nothing so far for an Apple. Thanks for any input.

A better solution would be to port Phil Karn's KA9Q package to the GS, since
it offers multi-window terminal sessions, file transfer, electronic mail,
interporability with net/rom and normal ax.25 connections, and better channel
access. (This is espicially nice on noisy channels.) I'd do it if I had
a GS, all I have now is a ][+, a //e with a not-very nice C compiler.
A GS can have enough memory to handle the package.

The KA9Q package has been ported from the PC to the Mac and Amiga, the GS
would be a useful machine to run it on, but I don't know if the APW C
compiler is up to the task.

If you mean a split-screen mode for talking direct to some other person, Z-Link
does it. It's one of the first features I put into it.
