[comp.sys.apple] vt100 stuff

kamath@reed.UUCP (Sean Kamath) (04/17/88)

Whilst working on DCOM, I have run into several *commom* bugs in vtxxx
emulators. These include the 80'th column bug, the motion outside scrolling
region, etc.

I am working on several things, as I always am, currently on top being a
port of the unix games mille bourne (called miles) to the apple // in aztec
C. In anycase, if anyone wants it when I get done, let me know.

Back to vtxxx. I am also working on DCOM being truely vt220 compatible,
even down to using mousetext as the custom characters. Since vt220 is a
superset of vt100, you can use a vt220 with a vt100 termcap. What I want,
and am willing to send to anyone who's worked on terminal emulators, is a
list of *all* found bugs.

An example:

common bug: When a vt100 get's to the 80th column (the last one), it does
*not* move the curser down a line and to the 1st column, but stays on the
80th char. Only when the 81st char is sent does it move to the new line and
show it.

so, if anyone wants, I will type up a list of these that I know of, and send
them to anyone interrested (I don't think it would really be appropriate to
send to comp.sys.apple, as many of you probably don't care.).

Also: I have three more patches to DCOM I will be sending out soon. I also
have the current "master" disk (which I still have to send to Jim Hayes :-(),
which will have the patches.
